These typically involve accessibility, <br />intemat ci.cculatioa, traffic congestion, traffic impacts, signaI warrants, signal design, pedestrian <br />safetp, par~ng, transit, birycle movement, financing, local and regional ttansportation issues. ~ <br />Maple Commerce park T1A <br />Currituck County, North Carolina <br />Cfient Reference: Ben Woody -(252) 232~029 <br />M/A/B staff partic,ipated in the ma.stet planning and <br />community charrette p=ocess for the Maple Patk Site <br />and then conducted a two-phase Traffic Impact <br />Analysis ('ITA) to analpze the impacts of uttimate plan <br />along US 258 in Currituck, NC. Phase I includes an <br />Aviation School, soccer 8elds, commerce park, YMCA <br />with a seniox center, and existing facilities such as NC <br />Cooperative Egtension Service's Building, Central <br />Elementary School, and the Curtituck Head Start <br />Center. Phase II includes egpanding the commerce <br />park, constructing new fac~ities for the Currituck <br />County Animal Center, and relocati.ng Maple Park including baseball fields, softball frelds, skate <br />park, and equestrian trails. Phase II will also close Airport Road resuliing in the rerouting of <br />traffic and/or relocation of egisting facilities on A~rport Road including the Currituck Landfill <br />Transfer Station and NC Forestry Service County Headquartexs. Traffic analyses and sunulation <br />modeling were perfotmed for both Phases of development aud recommendations to <br />accommodate the forecasted traffic internal to the site, including a roundabout, and along US 258 <br />were provided. <br />Morrts Grove Elementary Schooi TrafFic Impact Analysis and Roundabout Design <br />Chapel Hilf - Carrboro City Schools / Carrboro, North Carotina <br />Clfent Reference: Bil! MuliFn -(919) 967-5211, ext. 28221 <br />On behalf of Chapel Hill - Carrbaro Ciry <br />Schools, M/A/B prepared a'I'IA for the <br />newly constructed Morrms Grove - - <br />Elementary School and futute M'iddle _ _ ..,, <br />School #6 proposed along Eubanks Road ~+~ x ~ <br />in northexn Carrboro_ Based on a request '~ <br />by the Town of Carrboro, four build-out <br />scenatios were analyzed to evaluate the - '~~ rt <br />individuat impact of the elementary and _ _ + <br />middle schools as well as the potential ,,J' y~ '' . - <br />ttaffic benefit of building a future <br />connector road through the school site. The recommended intersection treatment was a single- <br />lane rounda.bout for the intersection of the future connector road and Eubanks Road to provide <br />superla.tive ttaffic operations and to conttol travel speeds near the school site on Eubanks Road. <br />Traffic simulation was petformed utilizing VISSIM so£tware to model future traffic conditions <br />with the schools in place and traffic diversion due to the connector roadway, while also <br />accommodating sigruficant truck traffic along Eubaaks Road.
