RELATED EXPERIENCE <br />M4Y - - _ <br />We are particularly proud of the Master Plan design work that Corley Redfoot <br />Architects has accomplished over the last decade, for clients and initiatives that <br />have considerable similarity to this Southern Orange Campus Master Plan <br />initiative. We present here a summary of some of these projects. <br />NCSLJ Masta Plmning Session <br />s~c cn~a x~u ~gn s~a,~i <br />MASTER PLANNING EXPERIENCE <br />Corley Redfoot Architects has provided master planning <br />services for a variety of clients in the Iocal area_ Each of <br />these proj~ts involves the depiction of a future vision. <br />Whether the vision relates to a specific govemmental <br />department or university activity or endeavor, there ate <br />several principles which guide our planning work. <br />First and foremost, we listen to our client and the various <br />stakeholders. We never engage the project with an <br />assumed solution, as every vision •is different just like every <br />communiry or institution is different Each client comes to <br />us with a set of standards and expeetations that must be met <br />or ezceeded if the master planning process is to be <br />successful. One case in point is Orange County's <br />overarching goal to be sustainable in its development, <br />which leads me to my next point <br />CRA has incorporated sustainability and environmentat <br />sensitivity concepts into every planning and design project <br />we perform. An effective master plan must consider the <br />programmatic and intangible aspects of a project, but it <br />must also address the tangible traits of a site, including <br />stormwater management, orientarion to the natural <br />elements, topography and other nat~ual features. Since <br />master plans generally transform into the built <br />environmen~ a design team with planners, engineers and <br />architects can effectively plan the functions and <br />relationships of a program, as well as provide pragmaiic <br />direction on its implementation on the ground. <br />Finally, CRA understands the Orange County and Chapel <br />Hill development review processes. We are familiar with <br />the issues that are important to the community and the <br />pianning procedures.
