26 <br />. ~,, <br />,,. <br />` ~ c ~ a ~ i o ~ <br />__ ..-- <br />•~., ~.~, ---~- -- ------ . <br />Preliminary ideas for the Citizen Engagement Strategy: We have mechanisms, <br />techniques, and technologies that we have used successfully in other <br />communities, aF-d we will offer some of those ideas during discussions with <br />County staff during Task 1. <br />Public engagement needs to continue throughout the project We intend to use <br />stakeholder interviews, major public events, media releases, and website%mail <br />distribution of materials. In addition, we intend to suggest use of a keypad <br />polling technology that we have found to be usefu( and successful in eliciting <br />public opinion. We look forward to introducing that technology and getting <br />feedback from staffregazding its possble benefits in Orange County. <br />We anticipate two major public meetings/events: the first being in the form of a <br />Public Information Meeting to describe the project and obtain ideas and opinions <br />about what issues shouid be considered in preparing altemative coacepts for the <br />site; and a second to ask for comment and feedback on alternative concepts: <br />Citizen engagement is always importank Communication <br />and outreach efforts especially need careful attention for <br />this Master Plan initiative, due to currently-underway <br />community dialogues about Carolina North unpacts, and <br />also about a new major residential development being <br />proposed immediately to the west of this site along <br />Homestead Road. <br />FinalIy, protocols will be esta.blished so that the consultant team will prepaze <br />regular progress reports in a format to be determined There will be regular <br />communicaYion with the County's project max-ager and the consultant team will <br />provide work products and status updates as key tasks are completed. <br />TASK 2: ASSEMBLE BACKGROUND INFORMATION <br />The Clarion team will review all transmitked background information provided <br />by the County and other agencies to synthesize a description of e~risting data <br />sources and policy documents relevant to this site.
