A R ~ o r~ Response to Reqnest for Proposals for Preparation of a Southern Orange Campns Master Plan (RFP # 5181) Dear Mr. Cannell, On behaif of the Clarion Associates team, we are pleased to submit this response to your Request for Proposals to prepare a Master Plan for the County's Southern Orange Campus. Clarion Associates will serve as the lead firm and will manage the overall project effort, bringing our expertise in land use planning, design guidelines and standards, plan implementation, and public participation strategies. We have joined forces on this effort with an outstanding team of fums and individuals with the necessary skills and disciplines to meet the challenges of this exciting project Our partners include Corley Redfoot Architects with extensive sldll and expertise in helping govemments and institutions conshuct long-range master plans; and Markin/Ale~ou/Bryson for tasks involving transportation and transit planning. As Project Manager for the consultant team, I will serve as the point of contact between the consultant team and the County. We are pleased to be in a position to offer a team of professionals who not only have the skill sets needed for this initiative, but also have direct experience working with, ixy and around Orange County. Clarion Associates is one of the most experienced fums in the country on the subject of land use planning and growth management We are also very local. Our office is in Chapel Hill. We have worked with Orange County in helping you prepare your current Comprehensive Plan and your Unified Development Ordinance, aad in helping to construct an Intergovemmental Growth Management Strategy executed between the County and the Town of Hillsborough. We have worked with Hillsborough on land use planning and ordiuance writing, and worked with the Town of Chapel Hill on preparation of five neighborhood plans and an Affordable Housing strategy. Prior to joining Clarion in 2005, I served as Planning D'uector for the Town of Chapel Hill for two decades -- preparing and reviewing master plans for sites like this one. • Corley Redfoot Architects also is based in Orange County, and has a long and impressive ~ack record of preparing Master Plans for governments and universities, including Orange County and UNC_ This is one of Orange County's oldest and most prestigious design firms, combining institutional familiarity with cutting-edge design and master pianning approaches.
