The final task consists of reporting the findings of the study. During the performance of the first three
tasks, TRC will keep the Orange County ERCD informed of the progress of the work on at least a bi-
weekly basis through verbal reports. The Orange County ERCD will also be provided specific
information regarding the Cate Farmstead and log cabin sites prior to the completion of fieldwork.
Approximately halfway through the project we will provide a Preliminary Field Report that presents the
project findings to date; preliminary mapping of identified resources; a preliminary assessment of the
significance of any recorded resources; information on the work remaining; and the expected date of
completion of the final report. We will also prepare a brief (15-20 minute) presentation of the
preliminary project results for the Chapel Hill Township Park and Educational Campus Master Plan
Work Group by this time.
When the fieldwork and analysis is complete, TRC will produce draft and revised final versions of a
technical report detailing the results of the background research, fieldwork, and laboratory analysis. The
repoR will be thorough and complete and will be illustrated with photographs and drawings of
archaeological sites and artifacts, as needed, and will conform to the reporting standards presented in the
OSA guidelines. In addition to the report, updated or new archaeological site forms will be completed for
each recorded site or isolated find, as appropriate. The report will provide recommendations concerning
the significance of any cultural resources discovered, as well as recommendations for future survey and
management and/or investigation of these resources. Any additional investigations are beyond the scope
of the present proposal.
TRC will temporarily curate any artifacts recovered during production and review of the draft and final
reports. The permanent curation repository of all project materials and collections will be determined in
consultation with the client and the OSA, but will likely be the Office of State Archaeology Research
Center in Raleigh. Orange County ERCD will be responsible for curation costs for records and artifacts
resulting from the project and this cost is not included in the attached budget.
SCHEDULE
TRC will proceed with this project in an expeditious manner once written Notice to Proceed (NTP) is
received. Barring circumstances beyond our control, such as extended periods of adverse weather, the
background research and fieldwork is expected to be completed within three weeks. The Preliminary
Field Report will be prepared and submitted to the Orange County ERCD by February 4, 2003. Two
copies of the Draft Final Report will be submitted to the Orange County ERCD no later than February
14, 2003. The report will be revised as necessary and four copies of the Revised Final Report will be
submitted to Orange County ERCD no later than February 28, 2003. The Orange County ERCD will also
be provided with copies of all field maps and copies of all black and white photographs.
BUDGET
TRC proposes to complete these studies on a lump sum basis as requested in the RFP. The attached
budget provides details on our proposed costs by task. Invoices will be provided every month for the
duration of the project.
Page - 3
