2012-2017 Orange County Master Aging Pian <br />Goal 6: Prepare Orange County for an aging population. <br />Objective 6.1: Promote aging preparedness so that the Orange County community and its <br />residents may be better able to transition to senior living. <br />^ Strategy 6.1.1: Create an Aging Preparedness campaign to encourage citizens to plan for their <br />retirement years and to challenge negative stereotypes of aging. <br />Indicator b.l.ta: Aging Preparedness campaign planned and implemented. <br />Aqencies Responsible: Department on Aging, North Carolina AARP, Triangle J Area <br />Agency on Aging, UNC Institute on Aging, UNC Center for Aging and Health, Carol <br />Woods Retirement Community <br />Objective 6.2: Develop advocacy efforts for (ocal, state, and federa) programs, which will <br />support older adults. <br />^ Strateqy 6.2.1: Designate a member of the Department on Aging Advisory Board to participate in <br />town and county housing and transportation planning efforts. <br />Indicator _6.2,1 a: Orange County Advisory Board on Aging representative appointed to <br />County Housing Planning body and to the Orange County Unified Transportation Board. <br />Agency Responsible: Orange County Advisory Board on Aging <br />^ Strateqy 6.2.2: Support Complete Streets policies at the state, county, and local levels that address <br />the needs of older adults. <br />Ind_icator..._6.2.2a.: Meeting with towns that have existing Complete Streets policies to <br />ensure they are accounting for the needs of older adults and to determine how to support <br />the creation of polites in other towns and at fhe state level. <br />Aqencies Resaonsible: Department on Aging; Orange County Planning Department; <br />Towns of Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Hillsborough; NCDOT <br />40 <br />
