FROM MARY E AVERS FAX NO. : 919 942 7070 Aug. 23 2002 05:00PM P1
ti
2
MARY E. AYERS, PLS
8111 NC OLD 86, CHAPEL BILL,NC 2751+6
(PH,I 919 942~7906 (F%)919 942-7070
Rich Shaw
Orange Co.Dept of E&RC
VIA FAX 644-3351
RE:Estimate for Topographic Survey.Chapel Hill Twp,park&School Site
Dear Rich:
I am pleased to present this estimate for the topo&tree location for the 193 acre site
Which I surveyed in 7001.As we discussed, this is a very large area for a conventional
Topo with one foot intervals and a fairly small trunimum tree size.Additionally, the
Tirnberiug about 3 years ago has trade the forested areas extremely dense with
Piles of scrap timber, undergrowth, and sprouting stumps from the harvested timber.
These factors obviously make the field work more difficult and expensive, especially
If the survey needs to be done prior to early November, when the leaves begin to
Fall. Therefore I am giving you two prices par acre, depending on when the work would
Be scheduled.
My rates per hour are still$70.00 for field&$65.00 per my time in the offxoe.
Typically I find that a wooded acre takes about 2.5 field hours($175.00)and 1.0 office
Hours($240.00)which 1 round up to$250.00 when i estimate.For an open are I
a,
Use a figure of$150.00 per acre.I have used a ball park of 30 acres for the open area.
Therefore,a purely acreage basis: 163 acres x$250.00 per acre=$40750.00
30 acres x $150.00 per acre= $4500.00
TOTAL ESTIMATED"LEAF-ONCOST $Q52:50.00
IF I CAN WAIT UNTIL AFTER,OCTOBER TO BEGIN THE WOODED AREA,
I WILL CLT MY COST FOR THE WOODED AREAS BY 20%:
163&Dres x$200.00 per acre=$32600.00
30 acres x$150.00 per acre= $4500.0
TOTAL ESTTMATED "LEAF-OFF COST: $37100.00
As we discussed,if this proposal is acceptable, I would like to work closely with your
Staff to begin work on the key areas first, and do the project in stages based on the
The areas targeted for building sites, etc.
