The additional revenue comes from fees <br />charged for senior center classes and from rental charges for Chapel Hill and Northside <br />Senior Centers. The additional funds bring the department's budgeted fee related revenue <br />to $41,972 for the current year. The revenues offset costs for class instructors, supplies, <br />and facility assistants. In addition, the department recently received $4,800 from the <br />newspaper to offset staff costs associated with editing the Senior Times publication. This <br />budget amendment reflects receipt of these additional revenues (See attachment 1, column <br />#1). <br />2. The Department on Aging recently received notification that the North Carolina General <br />Assembly has authorized $1,000,000 in statewide general purpose funding for senior <br />centers. Orange County's share of the total allocation is $17,046 and requires a 10 percent <br />local match of $1,705. The department has identified currently budgeted operating funds to <br />cover the matc~i. The department will use the funds to purchase equipment for each of the <br />three Orange County senior centers and to make additional improvements to the new <br />Central Orange Senior Center at the Meadowlands. This amendment provides for the <br />receipt of these funds (See attachment 1, column #2). <br />3. On January 16, 2002, the BOCC approved a Service Coordination Agreement with the new <br />First Baptist and Manley Estates senior housing complex in Chapel Hill. Under the terms of <br />
