Transit Funding —Annual Clarence Grier, Financial Services <br /> Director, 245-2453 <br /> PURPOSE: To discuss the draft review timeline of the Orange County Transit Plan (OCTP) <br /> and associated elements. <br /> BACKGROUND: If Orange County is to pursue the implementation of the 2009 Mobility Bill <br /> transit one-half ('h) cent tax, various aspects need to be discussed and implemented. Basically <br /> the following elements are required: (The focus of tonight's meeting will be Items 1 and 2.) <br /> 1. Timeline to accomplish <br /> 2. Orange County/Durham County Light Rail Transit (LRT) Cost Sharing options and <br /> eventually Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) [Core vs. Enhanced Plan] <br /> Following items at a later date <br /> 3. Orange County/Triangle Transit Levy Agreement to delay levying of tax until other formal <br /> agreements are in place <br /> 4. Orange County Transit Plan (OCTP) (aka Orange County Bus and Rail Investment Plan) <br /> both include the Financial Plan assumptions. Draft before Item 5 and formal at a later <br /> date. Note: Metropolitan Planning Organization decisions to be determined. <br /> o Share of LRT <br /> o Intra-county and Inter-county Bus Services <br /> o Bus Rapid Transit (Martin Luther King Corridor) <br /> o Small Capital <br /> 5. Referendum decision on one-half (1/2) cent transit sales tax <br /> 6. Orange County/Triangle Transit OCTP Implementing Agreement <br /> FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with discussion of the timeline <br /> and elements. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board review and discuss. <br />
