A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by <br /> Commissioner Halkiotis to approve and authorize the Chair to sign the resolution as <br /> stated below: <br /> RESOLUTION OF DIVERSITY, LEADERSHIP AND CITIZENSHIP FOR THE <br /> COOPERATIVE EXTENSION 4-H YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM <br /> WHEREAS, the Cooperative Extension 4-H Youth Development Program is a positive <br /> organization that engages families, businesses, and communities to <br /> create youth aspirations and the competencies necessary to be <br /> productive, responsible citizens, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Orange County Extension 4-H Youth Development Program is <br /> dedicated to serving the youth of Orange County, in helping young <br /> persons to acquire self-esteem, leadership, and responsibility as well as <br /> to become accountable for citizenship and community service activities, <br /> and respecting differences in others, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cooperative Extension Youth Development Program, in collaboration <br /> with Creating Connections, has committed time and energy with the teen <br /> population through an AT&T funded 4-H project TIME: (Teens Influencing <br /> the Minds of Everyone), by providing hands-on experiential learning <br /> through numerous programs that instill respect for others, communication, <br /> citizenship and leadership skills, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cooperative Extension has been active in ensuring the development <br /> of future productive adult citizens through the work of the 4-H Youth <br /> Development Program, and <br /> WHEREAS, the Cooperative Extension Youth Development Program will erect a 4-H <br /> "Wall of Reconciliation" at the Efland-Cheeks School Park to display the <br /> appreciation of local diversity, to increase ownership and pride in the <br /> community and recognition for the positive, past, present and future of <br /> youth development in Orange County; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners recognizes and bestows gratitude to the Cooperative Extension 4-H <br /> Youth Development Program as they celebrate the centennial of 100 years of growing <br /> and learning through commitment, cooperation, and collaborative services for the youth <br /> in Orange County. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> Fletcher Barber recognized Iris Fuller, the 4-H agent. <br /> C. Home and Hospice Care Month Proclamation <br /> The Board considered a proclamation designating November 2002 as <br /> "Home and Hospice Care Month" in Orange County. <br />
