Executive Summary <br />High School District <br />A. Does not currently exceed the 110% LOS standard (current LOS is 95.8%). <br />B. The projected growth rate at this level is expected to increase at a greater rate over the <br />next 10 years. <br />C. Expansion of Carrboro High School from the initial capacity of 800 students to the <br />ultimate capacity of 1,200 students is projected to be needed in 2020-21. <br />ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT <br />Elementary School District <br />A. Does not currently exceed 105% LOS standard (current LOS is 90.6%). <br />B. The projected growth rate at this level is expected to increase at a greater rate over the <br />next 10 years. <br />C. Projections are showing a need for an additional Elementary School in 2020-21. <br />Middle School District <br />A. Does not currently exceed 107% LOS standard (current LOS is 78.7%). <br />B. The projected growth rate at this level is expected to increase at a greater rate over the <br />next 10 years. <br />C. Does not affect or prompt CIP activity in 10-year time frame. However, staff is <br />monitoring new development activity in the Orange County portion of Mebane, which is <br />not a party to the Schools APFO MOU at this time. <br />High School District <br />A. Does not currently exceed 110% LOS (current LOS is 892%). <br />B. The projected growth rate at this level is expected to increase at a greater rate over the <br />next 10 years. <br />C. Does not affect or prompt CII' activity in 10-year time frame. However, Orange County <br />Schools has requested the N.C. Department of Public Instruction (DPI) re-examine the <br />capacity rating of Orange High School. This assessment could result in a significant <br />decrease in capacity at the high school level. Any capacity modifications approved by <br />DPI prior to the November 15, 2012 reporting date would become effective with the <br />approval of the 2012-13 membership and capacity numbers. <br />iii <br />
