27 <br /> 1 2009 the workman's compensation claims averaged over$1 million a year. For the last two and <br /> 2 a half years, the average was$300,000 a year. He commended the staff for this. <br /> 3 <br /> 4 11. County Attorney's Report <br /> 5 John Roberts said that in 2009 the General Assembly granted counties statewide the <br /> 6 authority to appoint the chair of the local ABC Board. No one has mentioned doing this, but this <br /> 7 became effective this past October. This authority now rests with the County Commissioners. <br /> 8 The current ABC Board Chair's term will expire sometime in the spring. <br /> 9 <br /> 10 12. Appointments <br /> 11 a. Orange County Arts Commission —Appointment <br /> 12 The Board considered making an appointment to the Orange County Arts Commission. <br /> 13 A motion was made by Commissioner Foushee, seconded Commissioner Jacobs to <br /> 14 appoint Ms. Andrea Riley to an At-Large Position on the Arts Commission with a term ending <br /> 15 March 31, 2014. <br /> 16 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 17 <br /> 18 b. Orange County Emergency Services Work-group—Appointments <br /> 19 The Board considered making appointments to the Orange County Emergency Services <br /> 20 Work Group. <br /> 21 A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Yuhasz to <br /> 22 appoint Ms. Mary Parrish to the Emergency Services Work Group. <br /> 23 VOTE: Ayes, 6; No, 1 (Commissioner Gordon) <br /> 24 <br /> 25 A motion was made by Commissioner Foushee, seconded by Commissioner McKee to <br /> 26 appoint Ms. Jane Cousins to the Emergency Services Work Group. <br /> 27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 28 <br /> 29 A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br /> 30 appoint Commissioner McKee as the Chair of the Emergency Services Work Group. <br /> 31 VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 32 <br /> 33 C.
