34
constraints. We also discussed operational matters such as seasonal use, no field
lighting, no rental of the field to others, etc. The Preyers made no specific request for any
design changes during the meeting. They agreed to consider the various issues and get
back to me with any specific requests.
3.The Preyers replied to me on Dec. 12, 2011 with a request to:
• Add a planted berm between the field and the property line,
• Move any encroaching portion of the existing trail off their property,
• Shift the field so that the infield (but not necessarily the outfield) is further away
from property line.
4.I sent the Preyers a revised drawing on Dec. 17, 2011 that showed a new layout for the
field and parking area that:
• Successfully complied with each request listed above, and
• Also shifted the parking area further away from property line.
S.On J anuary 2, 2012, the Preyers requested a meeting on the following day to discuss the
matter further.
6.CFS staff and I met with the Preyers at their office on Jan. 3, 2012 as requested. In the
meeting:
• They asked us again if we could move the field to another area of
the property. We explained again, in more detail, the various
locations that had been considered and why each of the other areas
could not properly accommodate the field.
• They asked if we could move the parking area to another location.
We explained that the purpose of the parking area is to serve the
users of the field, and more specifically to a11ow vehicular access
(including emergency vehicle access) to the infield and spectator
areas; therefore there is no other reasonable place to put it.
• I further explained that the field will be graded to an elevation that
is a few feet lower than the natural ground elevation near the
property line, and the berm will be placed on the top of the resulting
slope. This condition will enhance the positive effect of the berm
and the evergreen landscaping on top of the berm, by creating more
vertical separation between the activity on the field and the adjacent
property.
• They seemed to reluctantly accept our explanations and stated that
it appears that we "have done all that we can do".
