Specifically, she was
concerned about the proximity and the possible noise impact of the field to the adjacent
property owned by Deep Springs. In response, we stated that there is no suitable alternate
location for the field, but gladly agreed to take a fresh look at the field design to see if any
improvements could be made to assuage her concerns.
The school staff and I had several subsequent interactions with Mrs. Preyer and her husband,
Richard Preyer, during the period between the hearing and the Planning Board meeting. We
learned that the Preyers originally owned at least three lots in the small subdivision adjoining
the western edge of the school's property. The immediately adjoining lot is one of two that
they still own, and was the subject of Mrs. Preyer's comments at the hearing. The Preyers
consider this lot as investment property, which has been on the market for an extended time.
The Preyers have said that they have no intention of building on it.
The following summary will document our interactions with the Preyers, and the resulting
site design changes:
1.CFS ha d the Home Plate and Left Field corner staked by a surveyor for visual reference.
2.CFS staf f inembers and I met with the Preyers and their realtor on Nov. 28, 2011, at the
location of the proposed field. We reviewed the staked lines, the site conditions,
vegetation, etc. in the area; and discussed various options that might mitigate their
concerns. They asked about the possibility of moving the field to another location.
