Concern over the proximity of the proposed baseball field and parking lot to the western <br />property line. <br />APPLICANT RESPONSE: The proposed field location results from a careful finro-year <br />planning process, which considered school programming needs, existing facilities, the <br />practical opportunities and limitations of the additional land area that has become <br />available to the school, and other relevant factors. The proposed location meets or <br />exceeds all applicable zoning standards, and has been determined to be the only <br />suitable location for the field. The school acknowledges the concerns expressed by an <br />adjoining property owner about the proximity to the property line. Since the public <br />hearing, the school has been working with this property owner to address her concems. <br />B. Concem over the possibility of Carolina Friends School being allowed to rent out athletic <br />fields for use by outside entities. <br />APPLICANT RESPONSE: Carolina Friends School does not plan to `rent' the athletic <br />fields for use by athletic organizations, leagues, or other third parties. The school has <br />traditionally allowed the athletic fields to be used by some groups, with which school- <br />related personnel may have an affiliation. The school expects to continue this tradition <br />with the new baseball field, but does not intend to expand this community service to a <br />formal rental arrangement with any baseball or softball league or group. <br />C.
