Commissioner Gordon said that she went to the joint meeting of the Durham-Chapel <br />Hill - Carrboro MPO and the Capital Area MPO and they had a presentation on the Wake, <br />Durham, and Orange County transit plans. Wake County's plan includes a core program that <br />they can finance using funds that are currently available, and an enhanced program that would <br />make use of federal and state funds that are not available currently. She said that Orange <br />County should seriously consider using this approach. <br />Commissioner Hemminger made reference to the memo about the surface water <br />quality monitoring. She recommended that the area wait to see what tools are being <br />developed. The consultant is supposed to help with tools and guidance. <br />Commissioner Yuhasz said that the County Health Department has finished the data <br />collection for the Community Health Assessment and the Board of Health will be determining <br />the priorities for the next year in January. <br />Commissioner Jacobs congratulated everyone that worked at the polls. He pointed out <br />that the day after tomorrow is the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor and everyone should <br />remember all who sacrificed for our country. <br />Chair Pelissier said that she attended the Cooperative Extension Community. <br />Association Achievement Day. She said that she was impressed with this and the services that <br />are provided. <br />Chair Pelissier said that there is a work session on Thursday on transit and there will <br />be discussion on how to develop a plan that does not depend on federal or state funds. <br />14.
