Article 6: Development Standards 365 <br />Section 6.9: Parking, Loading & Circulation <br />(d) Aisles shall not be less than 12 feet wide for parallel parking. <br />Figure 6.9.10.E: Drive Aisles <br />_J <br />24' 18 ( 14161' 1+121 <br />90 Degree 60 Degree 45 Degree Parallel <br />(2) The angle shall be measured between the centerline of the drive aisle and the <br />centerline of the parking space. <br />(3) Parking is prohibited in the drive aisles. <br />(E) General Standards <br />(1) Except where there is attendant parking or for single - family dwellings, each <br />parking space shall be so arranged that any vehicle may be parked and moved <br />without moving another. <br />(2) Off - street parking areas shall be designed so that no parking spaces, drive <br />aisles, or vehicle turnarounds are located within adjacent right -of -way. <br />(3) All parking spaces and maneuvering space, except for single - family dwellings, <br />shall be surfaced with an all- weather paving material, such as asphalt or <br />concrete, and maintained in a safe, sanitary and neat condition. Gravel parking <br />areas may be permitted with the approval of the DAC. <br />(4) Nonresidential parking spaces and multifamily parking spaces shall be striped on <br />pavement or designated with some other form of permanent marking. <br />(5) All off - street parking lots shall be equipped with a surface drainage system <br />designed and constructed in accordance with Section 6.14 and approved by <br />Orange County. <br />(6) Vehicles parked in off - street spaces shall be prevented from encroaching on <br />travel lanes, pedestrian ways, landscaping, or adjacent property by means of <br />curbs, wheel stops or other appropriate means. <br />(7) Ingress and egress to parking lots shall conform to the design standards of the <br />North Carolina Department of Transportation. <br />(8) Automobile turn arounds are required for single - family residential lots abutting an <br />arterial or collector street roadway so that motor vehicles do not have to back <br />onto into a public right -of -way. <br />(F) Additional Standards for Economic Development Districts <br />In addition to the other standards established in this Section, the following shall apply <br />within the Economic Development Districts: <br />(1) General Standards <br />Orange County, North Carolina — Unified Development Ordinance Page 6 -73 <br />
