(C) <br />(D) <br />(E) <br />Article 6: Development Standards 373 <br />Section 6.12: Signs <br />M Only one wall sign per tenant GF building GGGUpant is allowed, and GRIY <br />then me of the tenant ndie ident'fidn c mhnl may he displayed. <br />tFmac127 <br />(3) Buckhorn EDD & Eno EDD Only <br />The following criteria shall govern the number, size, and height of identification <br />signs in the Buckhorn and Eno EDDs: <br />Directional /Informational Signs <br />In lieu of the requirements contained in Section 6.12.11(G), the following requirements <br />shall apply to Directional /Informational signs located in Economic Development <br />Districts: 1`B <br />(1) Information signs must be placed perpendicular to approaching traffic so that <br />they are visible and legible. <br />(2) Signs must be located outside of the site visibility triangle. <br />(3) Information signs must be positioned to avoid confusing backgrounds, <br />particularly when they are intended to direct vehicular traffic on or to- and -from <br />the site. <br />(4) Information signs may be placed no closer than six feet to the edge of a road or <br />drive, and, in no case, may they be located within a street right -of -way unless <br />they are erected by a governmental agency. <br />(5) Information signs may not exceed four feet in height. <br />(6) Information signs may not contain advertising material or exceed six square feet <br />in area. <br />Temporary Signs <br />(1) Temporary signs may be used for construction and real estate information, and <br />future tenant identification, in accordance with the provisions of this Section. <br />Awnings <br />(1) The form and color of the awnings must be consistent. <br />(2) A minimum eight -foot vertical clearance must be maintained. <br />(3) Signs on awnings must be painted on or screen printed and limited to the <br />awning's flap (valance) or end panels. <br />(4) Canvas, treated canvas, matte finish vinyl, and fabric awnings are permitted. <br />(5) Plexiglas, metal, and glossy vinyl illuminated awnings are prohibited in the <br />Hillsborough EDD and strongly discouraged in the Buckhorn and Eno EDDs. <br />127 Staff is suggesting that Wall Signs in the EDDs be regulated in the same manner as Wall Signs in other non- <br />residential zoning districts (see 6.12.12(C). <br />128 Staff is suggesting this additional language because the existing provisions for EDDs are different from, and <br />sometimes conflict with, the requirements contained in Section 6.12.11(G). <br />Orange County, North Carolina — Unified Development Ordinance Page 6 -102 <br />
