241 <br />Chapter 7: Parks and Recreation Element <br />NATURAL AND CULTURAL SYSTEMS <br />Objective NA -10: <br />Require that all major subdivisions (defined as having more than 5 lots <br />according to the Orange County Subdivision Regulations Unified <br />Development Ordinance) include within their boundaries open space <br />suitable for low- impact recreation and wildlife habitat. <br />Objective NA -11: <br />Develop a comprehensive conservation plan for achieving a network of <br />protected open space throughout Orange County, which addresses 1) <br />threats to important natural areas; 2) connectivity between protected <br />areas; 3) coordination with neighboring counties; and 4) sustainable <br />management of critical natural resources. <br />Objective NA -12: <br />Establish a system of nature preserves that protect large areas of <br />undeveloped land (including significant natural areas) surrounded by <br />low- density development and working farms and managed forests. <br />Objective NA -13: <br />Promote clustering of residential development and dedication of large <br />areas of undisturbed land for low- impact recreational use by residents <br />and for wildlife habitat. Where feasible, these areas should be <br />contiguous to neighboring tracts of undisturbed land. <br />Objective NA -16: <br />Create a system of public and private open space and conservation <br />areas, including parks, nature preserves, and scenic vistas <br />representative of the Orange County landscape. <br />SERVICES AND FACILITIES <br />Objective E -2: <br />Continue to work with parks and recreation providers in the County to <br />identify opportunities for co- location and shared funding of school and <br />public recreational "joint use" facilities. <br />TRANSPORTATION <br />Objective T -1.5: <br />Identify prime viewsheds along major transportation corridors and <br />protect these areas for their scenic and natural resource values. <br />7.8.
