.•
Carolina Friends School
Traffic Impact Analysis
The purpose of this report is to evaluate the proposed development in terms of
projected traffic conditions, evaluate the ability of the adjacent roadways to
accommodate the additional traffic volumes, and to recommend transportation
improvements needed to mitigate congestion that may result from the
additional site traffic. This report presents trip generation, trip distribution, traffic
analyses, and recommendations for transportation improvements needed to
meet anticipated traffic demands. The improvements will be built in phases over
the next several years. The Performing Arts Center is expected to be complete
by 2013. This report assumes that all improvements will be made by 2016. The
following study scenarios are studied in this report: 2011 Existing AM Peak Hour
Conditions, 2016 AM Peak Hour No Build Conditions, 2016 AM Peak Hour Build
Out Conditions
A. Study Area
The following intersections were analyzed to determine the associated impacts
from the proposed development:
Mount Sinai Road at Friends School Road
A Friends School Road at Carolina Friends School Entrance
B. Existing Conditions
Mt. Sinai Road _(SR 1718) is a two lane, east -west roadway that connects NC 86
to Erwin Road in Durham. The existing land use is predominantly residential. The
2009 Average Daily Traffic (ADT) as reported by NCDOT on Mt. Sinai Road just
west of Friends School Road is approximately 1,7001 vehicles per day (vpd).
March 2011 Page 3 L\
