138
Attachment 5
Question: Would the athletic fields continue to be rented out for use by outside
entities? Answer., Yes but primarily during summer months and on weekends as the
current use policy dictates. A representative of Carolina Friends School did indicate
that if neighbors had recurring issues with the use of the fields in the future, then the
school could re- evaluate its current policy of renting them out. It was further stated that
the school had no intention of installing or using a public address (PA) system for
athletic events.
Question: Where would parking for the new performing arts center be? Answer. • Mr.
Whitaker indicated that parking for the new facility would be in existing lots and that
visitors would make there way to the building through existing footpaths. Mr. Whitaker
indicated that this was a conscious decision by the applicant to avoid the need for new
parking facilities near identified stream buffers.
Question: What will the second driveway off of Mt Sinai be composed of?
Answer. • Gravel. Mr. Whitaker explained that the original intent of the driveway was
only as a construction entrance but that the School determined additional access would
be beneficial for ensuring access for emergency vehicles. Mr. Whitaker reminded all
present that the site plan denoted the presence of a security gate restricting access
during non - school hours. During ballgames or events at the performing arts center, the
gate would be left open to allow for access.
Mr. Whitaker reminded all parties that NC DOT would have to review and approve a
driveway cut for the roadway before it was developed.
With no further questions, the meeting was adjourned.
