_
71
1 Craig said that extractive uses are allowed in Agricultural-Residential land use. So they
2 are just removing things that are not in effect in Orange County.
3 Commissioner Jacobs said that this could be a more prominent issue shortly and he
4 wants to be deliberate.
5 Shannon Berry said that deleting these now does not impact the extractive uses that are
6 existing. Future extractive uses would have to deal with all of the zoning and requirements of
7 the UDO.
8 Shannon Berry clarified that not every reference to land use plan was changed to "map".
9 Only the references specifically referring to the map were changed.
10 Commissioner Yuhasz suggested being consistent with the changes on the document as
11 far as colors. On the next item, it is green for clean up and red for substantive. He said that
12 most of these should be green for this item.
13 Commissioner Yuhasz said that he understands Commissioner Gordon's point and he
14 thinks that the County Commissioners should read through this and understand it.
15 Commissioner Gordon made reference to page 261 and asked that the land/slope
16 criteria be investigated.
17 Larry Wright suggested that the County Commissioners consider these things and then
18 direct the Planning Board accordingly.
19 Commissioner Yuhasz said that a distinction needs to be made befinreen categories that
20 are very narrow in their application, such as nodes, and categories that are broad-based, such
21 as rural buffer or rural residential. He suggested not going further than this at this point. He
22 does not want staff spending a lot of time and reevaluating the criteria.
23 Larry Wright said that this is a heroic effort and he applauds staff.
24 A motion was made by Commissioner Hemminger, seconded by Commissioner McKee
25 to refer this matter to the Planning Board with a request that a recommendation be returned to
26 the BOCC in time for the February 7, 2012 BOCC regular meeting.
27 VOTE: UNANIMOUS
28
29 A motion was made by Commissioner Hemminger, seconded by Commissioner Yuhasz
30 to adjourn the public hearing until February 7, 2012 in order to receive and accept the Planning
31 Board's recommendation and any submitted written comments.
32 VOTE: UNANIMOUS
33
i
3 of 3
