73 <br />What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Members of the Council have assisted and advised in the Master Planning <br />processes for: Little River Regional Park, Efland Cheeks Community Park <br />(Phase 2), Twin Creeks (Moniese Nomp) Park, Blackwood Farm Park, Cedar <br />Grove Park, Fairview Park and Hollow Rock Access Area. <br />• Members of the Council have assisted in the operation of numerous special <br />events. <br />• Members of the Council have served on the Inter-governmental Parks Work <br />Group, the Sportsplex Advisory Council and the New Hope Creek Corridor <br />Advisory Council. <br />• The Council was an Element Lead Advisory Board involved in the 2030 <br />Comprehensive Plan preparation process. <br />• The Council makes recommendations for the semi annual Lands Legacy Action <br />Plan. <br />• The Council has worked toward the establishment and incorporation of a Friends <br />of Parks and Recreation Group. <br />• The Council hosts the biannual Joint Recreation and Parks Advisory Council <br />meeting every third time, most recently in 2011. <br />• PARC advocated for improved opportunities for community use of schools <br />through the IPWG and during the February Joint Parks and Recreation Advisory <br />Group meeting. <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Pertormed or Sponsored <br />Annually. <br />None <br />Describe this board/commission's activities/accomplishments in carrying <br />out BOCC goal(s)/priorities, if applicable. <br />PARC reviews the site plans for major subdivision applications in the county's <br />jurisdiction. Recommendations are made as to conservation of high priority <br />natural areas, wildlife corridors and prime forests. (Goal 5) <br />In 2010 PARC had adopted its own goal to advocate for an update to the 1988 <br />Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The study is currently in the <br />planning stages, having received Commissioner support and funding. PARC <br />expects to serve as a "steering committee" for the development of the new Plan. <br />(Goal 5) <br />The Council reviewed plans and advised on the greenway at Twin Creeks and <br />the partnership with Chapel Hill re: the allocation of Soccer Superfund monies for <br />improvements at Cedar Falls Park. (Goal 6) <br />
