Our ombudsmen also provide our committee <br />volunteers with ongoing technical assistance and educational support. The <br />committee's activities include: <br />• We complete official quarterly visits to each nursing home. These site <br />visits are not scheduled or announced ahead of time. <br />• Apprising themselves of general conditions under which residents of long- <br />term care facilities are living <br />• Assisting residents or family members with grievance resolution regarding <br />residents' rights issues by referring them to the Ombudsman <br />• Preparing reports as required by the North Carolina Division of Aging, <br />citing specifically observed concerns and generally held long-term care <br />issues and reporting resolutions of prior reported concerns <br />• Serving as a nucleus for increased community involvement in the facilities <br />• Promoting community education and awareness of the needs of residents <br />in long-term care facilities <br />
