6 <br />• Work toward keeping the public informed about aspects of long-term care and the <br />operation of homes in the county. <br />What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Advocacy for individuals and the Long Term Care System in Orange County. <br />• Providing insights to members of the Department of Aging and their Advisory Board. <br />Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored Annually. <br />• All of the adult care and family care homes were visited by the committee in 2010 for <br />a total of 26 facility visits. <br />• Visitation reports were written for each of the Orange County Adult Care and Family <br />Care Homes. These reports will be available on the Orange County website to allow <br />for public access. <br />• Ongoing training and support for committee members at business meetings, by <br />phone, email and one-on-one meetings were provided by the Ombudsman and other <br />Triangle J personnel. <br />• Reading and sharing of articles from national organizations working with older adults. <br />in all forms of media. <br />Other Activities and Accomplishments in Carrying out BOCC Goal(s)/Priorities. . <br />• Participation in the Department of Aging Resource fair in the May of 2011 <br />• Represented at the Triangle J Culture Change Workshop on June 16, 2011 <br />• Recognition/training of paid facility staff, thereby improving quality and continuity of <br />care of residents <br />• Illumination of CAC activities to other community organizations in which committee <br />members are involved. <br />• Service on Aging Boards and in Human Service organizations. <br />• Provision of activity resources to facilities such as magazines, puzzles, clothes, <br />activity materials and other needed items. <br />Activities this Advisory Board Expects to Carry Out in 2012: <br />Assist in pursuit of Baby Boom" readiness for increased need for Long Term Care <br />in Orange County, an assessment which the Department of Aging hopes to <br />complete. <br />Support and promotion of "culture change' in our assisted living facilities to provide <br />more person centered care which can improve the quality of life for current and <br />future residents. <br />• Participation in the Department on Aging's Master Aging Planning Process. <br />
