35 <br />annual marketing plan and program of work necessary to build and maintain <br />tourism, grow jobs in tourism and boost spending, occupancy and sales taxes <br />and lay the groundwork for future tourism-related development. <br />What are your Board/Commission's most important accomplishments? <br />• Generating demand for hotels, restaurants and related businesses <br />• Working with hotels to sell "softer periods" and boost revenues for county <br />• Representing the interests of all three towns where tourism and marketing <br />are concerned <br />• Operating awalk-in visitors center six days a week providing hospitality, <br />referrals and information to guests to Orange County <br />• Distributing more than 100,000 pieces of information to visitors, investors, <br />families, conference attendees and group tours who have chosen Orange <br />County as the site for their event and activity <br />• Incubating smaller events and projects such as FRANK, the downtown <br />gallery; Free Spirit Freedom, a grassroots cultural campaign designed to <br />promote African American History; Carrboro Music and Film Festival as <br />well as several new events to Orange County. <br />• Enfolding the Orange County Arts commission under/alongside of the <br />visitors' bureau helping to ensure that arts remain a priority in Orange <br />County. <br />• Launching a media program in educational and pharmaceutical trade <br />magazines to remind of 30,000 square feet of conference space in OC. <br />• Hosting national travel and food editors to assure continued nationwide <br />promotion of Orange County's food scene. <br />• Providing conference services to 25,000 delegates annually. <br />• Working with agricultural resources to develop agri-tourism program in <br />2012 and 2013. <br />List of Specific Tasks, Events, or Functions Performed or Sponsored <br />Annually. <br />The tasks and functions are broad based and often opportunity driven. For <br />example, we book approximately 25 conferences a year that participate with, <br />from reunion and fraternal groups to corporate meetings, association meetings, <br />sports events, cultural events and educational related meetings. <br />The Visitors Bureau is a partner with the following events: <br />NC High School Athletic Association <br />Tar Heel Sports <br />Carrboro Film Festival <br />Carrboro Music Festival <br />Hog Day <br />
