75 <br />Page 3 of 3 <br />Gary Rosson <br />There are several reasons I would like to serve on the Orange County Emergency <br />Services Work Group: <br />1. As a single parent of 2 boys, homeowner, citizen of Orange County and, therefore, a <br />potential consumer of emergency services, I have a vested interest in the quality of those <br />services in the county. <br />2. Second, I believe my background provides me with some understanding of the basic <br />concepts of EMS, the importance of timely fire, rescue, EMS, police response, <br />dependable radio communications systems and other quality equipment/systems in the <br />public safety sector, and the challenge of maximizing these services within our financial <br />means. I recognize that my emergency services experience is primarily from 1970-1992, <br />so I also understand (and welcome) that I will need to learn more about modern systems, <br />needs and challenges. However, I believe the primary goals of emergency services a€" <br />the provision of quality emergency services to all citizens and visitors in a timely manner <br />at an affordable cost -has remained essentially the same over the years. <br />3.While I have been a citizen of Orange County for nearly 5 years, due to my wifea€TMs <br />long-term illness, I have not had the opportunity to contribute significantly to my <br />community. When the citizen openings for the Emergency Services Work Group were <br />advertised it seemed to be an opportunity for me to help my community in an area where <br />have a little experience. When I was heavily involved in EMS in Virginia a number of <br />years ago, I enjoyed the challenge of working with state and local governments to solve <br />problems that helped to improve those services to all users. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to be considered for this work group.
