In 2009, I co-founded the Monterey Bay Writers Studio, a Santa <br />Cruz, California-based organization that provided community writing education, literary <br />events, and networking opportunities for local writers. <br />Education: <br />graduated from Chapel Hill High School in 2000, received my BA in Literature and <br />Writing from Sarah Lawrence College in 2004, and my MFA in Writing from the New <br />School University in 2009. I also completed post-graduate coursework in Copyediting <br />and Brand Marketing at the New School during my time at HarperCollins. I am fluent in <br />Spanish. and French, conversant in Italian, and read and write elementary Arabic. <br />Other Comments: <br />I moved to Chapel Hill originally in 1992, left in 2001 for college and post-graduate work, <br />and returned to Chapel Hill this fall. I have long been familiar with, and admiring of, the <br />rich artistic heritage of our area, and would embrace an opportunity to collaborate with <br />fellow Arts Commission members to develop and grow this aspect of our community. I <br />believe a strong, diverse artistic foundation is fundamental to a thriving community, and <br />believe my experience, passion, and energy would be well suited to the goals of the <br />Commission.
