2
currently being presented by staff and will be brought to the BOCC at a regular meeting in
February.
In addition to the permitting and agreements with the City of Mebane, HUA has identified
several areas where easements will be required to construct and operate the new water and
sewer infrastructure. Staff has asked HUA to develop a proposal to acquire the easements. It
is anticipated that work to acquire the easements for the project will also be concurrent with
permit acquisition and should be completed in roughly the same time frame.
Given the above information regarding the permitting timeline, it is likely the project will be ready
to bid in the Summer of 2012. Between now and then, the BOCC will be asked to 1) review and
approve the modified water and sewer service agreement with Mebane and grant the Manager
the authority to sign the permit applications in February, 2) review and approve the budget for
the project during the upcoming CIP review process and 3) possibly approve the release of the
project for bid before the summer break.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with receiving this report. Funds
necessary to support the completion of this project were anticipated to be funded through the
economic development infrastructure '/4 cent sales tax. The anticipated costs for constructing
this project are included in the County's current Capital Improvement Plan and will be formally
proposed for the 2012-2013 budget.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board receive this report and
provide any feedback as necessary.
