Piney Mountain Phase II Subdivision Map .and Darcy Zorio, 245-2582 <br />NCDOT Documentation Tom Altieri, 245-2575 <br />Craig Benedict, 245-2585 <br />PURPOSE: To make a recommendation to the North Carolina Department of <br />Transportation (NCDOT) concerning a petition to add a subdivision road in Piney Mountain <br />Phase II Subdivision (Twin Pine Lane) to the State Maintained Secondary Road System. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This request includes one petition for a road addition to the State Maintained Secondary <br />Road System. The road is: <br />Piney Mountain Phase II Subdivision (Twin Pine Lane) -Attachment 1 <br />The requested road addition is about 0.05-miles long. Three houses have entrances to the <br />road submitted for addition. <br />Piney Mountain Subdivision was approved by the Board of Commissioners in August 1987 <br />and is located off the north side of Mount Sinai Road (SR 1718) behind Friends School <br />Road and Kerley Road. <br />Conclusion <br />The above-referenced application meets the criteria endorsed by the BOCC for <br />recommending acceptance of a public road into the State Maintained System for roads <br />approved through the governing jurisdiction's major subdivision process. <br />NCDOT has investigated this request (please refer to Attachment 1) and has submitted the <br />petition to the BOCC for its recommendation. In accordance with North Carolina General <br />Statute §136-62*, the Board is required to make a recommendation regarding the petitions <br />' North Carolina General Statute §136-62 directs that "The citizens of the State shall have the right to <br />present petitions to the board of county commissioners, and through the board to the Department of <br />Transportation, concerning additions to the system and improvement of roads. The board of county <br />commissioners shall receive such petitions, forwarding them on to the Board of Transportation with their <br />recommendations." <br />
