SYSTEM DESCRIPTION <br /> NR <br /> • Layers.MapTrak is comprised of different layers of images. These image layers provide <br /> the map area and data for your site. Image files for layers can be bitmaps,jpegs, or other <br /> types of image files. These image layers can be added to, or removed from,the map. (See <br /> page 1-32.) <br /> • Locations. MapTrak recognizes several types of locations: addresses, intersections, land- <br /> marks, and latitudes/longitudes. You can use MapTrak to search for and locate specific <br /> places on the map, as well as identify locations from the map. <br /> MapTrak places a label on the map whenever you find and locate a location using the <br /> Address Matcher window or identify a location using the location ID tools. <br /> • Themes.Themes allow you to display objects differently based on various types of non- <br /> geographic information, such as posted speeds on streets and elevation of peaks,that can <br /> be defined to display differently on the map. For instance,you can define a theme for the <br /> posted speed limits against the streets(object)to display differently on the map, such that <br /> when the theme is applied,streets with a posted speed limit of 15 m.p.h.displays in red,25 <br /> m.p.h. displays in blue, and so on. <br /> • Objects.MapTrak displays objects. Objects are data that can be plotted and displayed on <br /> the map, such as streets,rivers,hospitals,and boundaries. Objects are categorized into <br /> three groups: Point(such as buildings and parks),Line (such as streets and rivers), and <br /> Polygon(such as boundaries and lakes) <br /> • Measuring.MapTrak provides tools allowing you to measure distances and areas on the <br /> map, as well as determine the area of a user-defined line,polygon, rectangle, or circle. <br /> In MapTrak, distances are measured in units(such as miles,kilometers, and yards)which <br /> appear in the Unit drop down list. The Scale field indicates the width of the current map <br /> display.You can enter a different width in the field to change the map scale,which adjusts <br /> the map display just as if you zoomed in or out.The display zooms to the new scale,main- <br /> taining the center of your map <br /> • Analyzing Data. MapTrak provides the Data Analysis window as a means of analyzing <br /> data. The Data Analysis window displays data about objects selected on the map and <br /> allows you to create and apply queries to produce reports. <br /> LogiSYS can configure your system so that when you hover over an icon or list field on the tool- <br /> bars with your mouse, a pop-up displays the icon or field name. <br /> 01/20/10 1-13 <br />
