7 7 <br /> Scope of Work <br /> The Contractor shall provide costs for performing the following tasks as specified herein and shown on the <br /> Drawings. <br /> Item 1 — Mobilization and Demobilization <br /> 1. The Contractor shall provide a lump sum estimate to cover mobilization/demobilization of personnel and <br /> equipment, including but not limited to miscellaneous cleanup, insurances and bonds. <br /> Item 2—Repair of Asphalt Pavement <br /> The Contractor shall provide a unit cost per square foot to repair the asphalt pavement at the Orange County <br /> landfill. <br /> 1. The cost shall include all material, equipment, labor and incidental required to remove, and repair <br /> existing asphaltic concrete pavement. <br /> 2. Cost shall include but not limited to cutting the existing pavement, disposing of excess material, <br /> replacing pavement subgrade and base as necessary, compaction as detailed below. quality control <br /> tests and other tasks necessary for the completion of the work for which payment is not provided <br /> elsewhere in the bid documents. <br /> 3. The County will provide a stockpile of stone for the base near the working area. The Contractor will be <br /> responsible for installing the stone as needed. <br /> 4. Payment will be based on the square feet of asphalt pavement in-place as measured by the Contractor <br /> and verified by Orange County. <br /> Bid Item 3— Installation of New Asphalt Pavement <br /> The Contractor shall provide a unit cost per square foot to install a new asphalt pavement at the Orange County <br /> landfill as shown on the Drawings. <br /> 1. The cost shall include all material, equipment, labor and incidental to install the asphalt paving as shown <br /> on the Drawings including but not limited to grading, quality control test on the subgrade, binder, asphalt <br /> concrete and incidental. . <br /> 2. The County will provide a stockpile of stone for the base near the working area. <br /> 3. The Contractor will be responsible for installing the stone as needed. <br /> 4. The Contractor will be responsible for installation and compaction. <br /> 5. The Contractor will be paid on the basis of the total square feet of asphalt pavement installed. The <br /> quantity will be determined by a certified survey paid for by the contractor. <br /> General Specifications of the Work to be Performed <br /> 1. Existing asphaltic pavements to be removed shall be cut by a wheel cutter, clay spade, or other device <br /> capable of making a neat, reasonably straight and smooth cut without damaging adjacent pavement that <br /> is not to be removed. <br /> 2. The existing pavement shall be saw cut and trimmed after placement of required base course material <br /> and just prior to placement of asphaltic concrete for pavement replacement, and the trimmed edges <br /> shall be painted with a coating of prime coat immediately prior to constructing the new abutting asphaltic <br /> pavements. <br /> 3. The Contractor will be responsible for hauling the removed asphalt concrete to an approved location of <br /> the landfill for recycling. <br /> 4. The construction of the new asphaltic concrete pavements shall conform to the requirements of the <br /> NCDOT and the Local Building Code and upon completion the pavement shall provide positive drainage <br /> to the edge of the pavement. <br /> 5. The subgrade shall be prepared by excavating, filling, blading and compacting. Base and subbase <br /> materials shall be fine graded to a smooth surface and shall be compacted to 95 percent of the optimum <br /> compaction. <br /> BID DOCUMENT 1630 <br />
