All employees, including part-time employees, should inform their supervisor prior to
accepting outside employment. Employees are to be cautioned to consider carefully the demands
that additional work activity will create before accepting outside employment.
B. Work assignments and/or schedules will not be changed to accommodate outside
employment.
C. Outside employment will not be considered an excuse for poor job performance, absenteeism,
tardiness, leaving early, or refusal to work overtime or different hours. If outside work activity
does cause or contribute to job-related problems, normal corrective action procedures will be
followed to address specific problems.
D. Employees who have accepted outside employment are discouraged from using PTO/vacation
(for Job Corps Centers only) and may not use ELR/sick (for Job Corps Centers only) to work on
the outside job. Fraudulent use of such time will result in corrective action, up to and including
termination.
E. Employees are also prohibited from engaging in any activity or conduct which conflicts with
or appears to conflict with the interests of the Company or the individuals we serve. This
prohibition includes performing any services for individuals on non-working time that are
normally performed by ResCare personnel, conducting any outside business during paid working
time, the unauthorized use of any ResCare equipment, and the unauthorized use or application of
any confidential trade information or techniques.
F. Employees in violation of this policy will be subject to corrective action, up to and including
termination, and may be subject to legal action.
