A2 J1 <br /> [Departmental Use Only] - <br /> TITLE Interpreter Workshops <br /> FY 2011-2012 <br /> ORANGE COUNTY <br /> CONTRACT UNDER$10,000.00 <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> THIS AGREEMENT, made and entered into this 1st day of September, 2011, ("Effective Date") <br /> by and between Orange County,North Carolina, a body politic and corporate organized under the laws of the <br /> State of North Carolina, (the "County"), party of the first part; and UNC Hospitals (the "Provider"), party of <br /> the second part; <br /> WITNESSETH: <br /> For the purpose and subject to the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth, the County hereby <br /> contracts for the services of the Provider, and the Provider agrees to provide the following services to the <br /> County in accordance with the terms of this Agreement,time being of the essence: <br /> The services and/or materials (hereinafter referred to collectively as "Services") to be furnished <br /> under this Agreement are as follows: <br /> The Provider will develop, facilitate and evaluate five professional interpreter workshops for local <br /> interpreters from Burma as outlined below: <br /> DEVELOPMENT - In developing the workshops, the Provider will consult with: l) current <br /> interpreters and/or leaders from Burma, 2) providers working with the community from Burma, and 3) <br /> professional interpreter training curricula to identify culturally and professionally appropriate content and <br /> methods. A final class outline with a copy of handouts should be provided to the County for review prior to <br /> each of the training dates. The Provider is reponsible for arranging any necessary training materials and <br /> making requested additions/changes to the workshops as requested by the County. <br /> The workshop topics will include: <br /> 1. Professional Boundaries/Appropriate Referrals <br /> 2. Specialized Vocabulary/Pronunciation <br /> 3. Accuracy/Completion of Interpretation <br /> 4. Self-Care <br /> 5. To Be Determined: May revisit an earlier topic or a create new topic <br /> FACILITATION- The Provider will facilitate the 5 (five) workshops, each two hours in length. <br /> Workshops will be held on Fridays from 12:00-2:00pm in Chapel Hill unless another time/day is agreed <br /> upon by both Provider and the County. A sign in sheet should be completed at each class,and a certificate of <br /> attendance should be provided to each interpreter who completes the workshop. The workshops will <br /> accommodate up to 20 individuals. If less than 5 individuals sign up for the workshop,the workshop should <br /> be rescheduled. The Provider should provide copies of the sign in sheets to the County by May 31, 2012. <br /> The County is responsible for recruiting participants, and arranging location and refreshment logistics. <br /> EVALUATION - The Provider will develop a simple tool to assess knowledge and skills learned at <br /> each workshop and participants' satisfaction with the workshop. The County and Provider may work <br /> together to ensure that all necessary measures are included. Raw data and a summary of the evaluation <br /> results should be provided to the County by May 31,2012. <br /> The term of this agreement rendered shall be from September 1, 2011 to June 1,2012. <br /> Provider represents and agrees that Provider is qualified to perform and fully capable of performing and <br /> providing the services required or necessary under this Agreement in a fully competent, professional and <br /> Revised July 2010 1 <br />
