Year-To-Date Budget <br />Summary <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Clarence Grier, (919) 245-2453 <br />PURPOSE: To approve budget and capital project ordinance amendments for fiscal year 2011- <br />12. <br />BACKGROUND: <br />Department of Social Services <br />1. The Department of Social Services has received additional revenue for the following <br />programs: <br />• Second Family Foundation Foster Outcomes Study -receipt of $23,177 from <br />the Second Family Foundation to fund a project that examines the outcomes of <br />_ former foster youth to assist in improving social work, practices. The study will be <br />conducted by part-time social workers at no cost to the county. <br />• Community-Based Youth Gang Violence Prevention Program -receipt of <br />$9,799 from the Department of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention ' <br />(DJJDP) to provide acommunity-based Youth Gang Violence Prevention Program. <br />This program will target Orange County youth at-risk for delinquency, gang <br />involvement and school drop-out by offering students a positive, supportive <br />environment during out of school time. <br />• Smart Start Enhancement Program - receipt of $720,577 to continue <br />administering the Smart Start Subsidized Child Care program, which the department <br />began effective February 1, 2011. These enhancement funds will be paid directly to <br />child care providers. <br />
