The east -west axis shall be St-Mary's Road (from the Durham County line to <br />Highway 70) and a continuance of Highway 70 from that intersection westward <br />to the Alamance County line. <br />(b) Numbers shall run in an ascending order from east to west on streets to the west of <br />the north -south axis. Numbers, likewise, shall run in an ascending order from west <br />to east on streets to the east of the north south base line. Numbers shall run in an <br />ascending order from south to north on streets to the north of the east -west axis. <br />Numbers, likewise, shall run in an ascending order from north to south on streets to <br />the south of the east -west axis. <br />(c) All dead -end streets shall begin numbers at the open end, no matter which compass <br />direction they follow. <br />(d) Streets with both ends opening from the same direction shall begin numbering on <br />the end closest to the axis. <br />(e) Streets which do not run north -south or east -west shall begin numbering at the <br />end closest to the axis. <br />(f) Streets which connect to both axes shall begin numbering on the end stemming <br />from the north -south axis. <br />(g) Each block shall begin a new series, for example, 101, 201, 301. <br />(h) Numbers shall remain unassigned in order to accommodate future development, <br />and block numbers shall be assigned to undeveloped areas. <br />(Ord. of 4-21-1987, § 5, eff. 4 -21 -1987) <br />BUILDINGS AND BUILDING REGULATIONS § 6 -35 <br />CD6:3 <br />Sec. 6 -36. Penalty for violation of ordinance. <br />Violation of this Ordinance shall constitute a misdemeanor punishable as provided in N.C. <br />General Statute § 14 -4. Whenever the governing body of the County has reasonable cause to <br />believe that any person is violating or threatening to violate this Ordinance, it may, either before <br />or after the institution of any other action or proceeding authorized by this Ordinance, institute a <br />civil action in the name of the County for injunctive relief to restrain the violation or threatened <br />violation or to require an act or acts necessary to comply with the Ordinance. <br />(Ord. of 4-21-1987, § 6, eff. 4 -21 -1987) <br />Sec. 6 -37. Severability. <br />If any provision of this Ordinance is for any reason held to be invalid or unconstitutional by <br />any court of competent jurisdiction, such provision shall be deemed a separate, independent <br />provision and such holding shall not affect the validity of any other provision hereof, and to that <br />end, the provisions of this Ordinance are hereby declared to be severable. <br />(Ord. of 4 -21 -1987, § 7, eff. 4 -21 -1987) <br />Secs. 6- 38 -6 -65.
