North Carolina Tomorrow Comprehensive Economic Development Strateqv <br /> (CEDS1 for Oranqe Countv as Part of the Seven Countv Trianale J Council of <br /> Governments <br /> The Board conducted a public hearing to allow residents to opportunity to express views <br /> and proposals prior to the submission of a Community Development Block Grant Application <br /> through the NC Department of Commerce. <br /> Interim Assistant County Manager Michael Talbert introduced this item. The amount of <br /> this grant is $50,000. The contract would be approximately 18 months. The applications would <br /> be submitted in November and the grants would be awarded by late December. The funds <br /> would have to be extended no later than June 2013. This is to produce a comprehensive <br /> economic development strategy for the entire region, which would also meet a statewide <br /> initiative. <br /> Public Comment <br /> None <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Hemminger, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Foushee to direct staff to proceed with an application for the North Carolina Tomorrow initiative <br /> funded by a Community Development Block grant, authorizing the Manager to sign the <br /> application on behalf of the County; and to approve the Resolution of the Orange County Board <br /> of Commissioners Approving Submission of an Application for Community Development Block <br /> grant NC Catalyst Funds. <br /> RESOLUTION OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS APPROVING <br /> SUBMISSION OF AN APPLICATION FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT <br /> NC CATALYST FUNDS <br /> WHEREAS, the North Carolina Department of Commerce through the Division of Community <br /> Investment and Assistance, is administering the Community Development Block Grant NC <br /> Catalyst— NC Tomorrow Pilot Program and has invited local governments to apply for such <br /> funding; <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County is preparing an application requesting $50,000 in Community <br /> Development Block Grant NC Catalyst Funds; and, <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County will meet all requirements in preparing the Community <br /> Development Block Grant NC Catalyst Program Application, including public hearings and <br /> citizen participation; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County <br /> that: <br /> 1. The Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby authorizes the preparation of an <br /> application to the North Carolina Department of Commerce, Division of Community <br /> Investment and Assistance, Community Development Block Grant NC Catalyst Program <br /> Funds in the amount of$50,000; <br /> 2. The Chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners is hereby authorized and <br /> directed to act on behalf of the Orange County Board of Commissioners in connection <br /> with the Community Development Block Grant NC Catalyst Program Application to <br /> provide such additional information as may reasonably be required, and to execute any <br /> documents related to said application; and, <br />
