Sarah Lee said that the bicycle map reflects the County's
bicycle plan and the discussion was primarily about whether it should be recreation-based or
more commuter-based. Visibly, it is more of a recreational plan. The discussion was adding
some more commuter-based routes. The concern is the amount of traffic and the safety.
Commissioner Jacobs encouraged NCDOT to accent the recreational component. The
plan from the late 90's was a commuter plan, but that is really not feasible now.
Commissioner Jacobs said that he would have trouble adopting this not knowing when
the MPO will adopt it. Sarah Lee said that she would make sure to coordinate this.
Chair Pelissier made reference to the park and ride lots and asked for an idea of the
traffic analysis and how many parking spaces there would be.
