Please start with <br /> "thank you" and "how can we help?" <br /> Thank you." <br /> Susan Walser spoke on behalf of TICNC, which is the Tick-Borne Infections Council of <br /> North Carolina. The goal is to educate the public on ticks, tick-borne illnesses, and protecting <br /> yourself from ticks. After the State budget cuts, many State employees have lost their jobs, <br /> which included all NC DENR, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources involved <br /> in tick research and educational programs. She said that a lot of the information that was <br /> collected by this department was going to be thrown away, but TICNC was able to obtain the <br /> information. She spoke about the importance of checking for ticks, etc. She brought some <br /> samples of brochures from TICNC. <br /> Lamar Chapman made reference to the comments about the 911 communications and <br /> fire departments. He asked the people that spoke to this to please stay for the rest of the <br /> meeting because the rest of the agenda relates to it regarding deer hunting with dogs. <br /> b. Matters on the Printed Aqenda <br /> (These matters will be considered when the Board addresses that item on the agenda <br /> below.) <br /> 3. Petitions by Board Members (Three Minute Limit Per Commissioner) <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner McKee, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to <br /> request staff to make periodic reports, monthly or on a six-week schedule, on the status of <br /> efforts between various fire departments and those departments in the County considering the <br /> insurance situation for homes outside of the six-mile limit. <br /> There was no vote. <br /> 4. Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations <br /> a. Presentation by the Consul General of Mexico to North Carolina <br /> The Board received a special presentation from the Consul General of Mexico, Carlos <br /> Flores Vizcarra, in reference to consular services in North Carolina and the consular I.D., the <br /> most widely expedited document by the Consulate. <br /> Carlos Flores Vizcarra, Consul General of Mexico to the Carolinas, lives in Raleigh and <br /> said that he is an ambassador and his mission is to assist the Mexican communities with things <br /> such as documentation and other types of community programs.
