Oranqe County Arts Commission —Appointments The Board considered making appointments to the Orange County Arts Commission. A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Hemminger to appoint Dr. Alice Levinson to a partial first term expiring March 31, 2012; and Tamara Oxley to a first term expiring March 31, 2014. VOTE: UNANIMOUS c. Human Relations Commission — New Appointments The Board considered making appointments to the Human Relations Commission. A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Foushee to appoint Colin Austin to a second term expiring June 30, 2014; James Anderson to a second term expiring June 30, 2014; Rita Anita Linger to a second term expiring June 30, 2014; Matthew Hughes to a first full term expiring June 30, 2014; and Marty Rosenbluth to a second term expiring June 30, 2014. VOTE: UNANIMOUS Commissioner Jacobs said that since there are six more At-Large vacancies and five people not being recommended, he would like to recommend taking the other five applicants from the applicant interest list. This would be Joseph Polich, Joyce Christine Preslar, Rev. Dr. Rolin Russell, Michael Stewart, and Dr. Cynthia Stubbs. This was seconded by Commissioner Foushee. Commissioner Gordon said that she had reservations about this because there was concern about adequate female representation. Commissioner Jacobs said that two of the five are female. Chair Pelissier said that she does not know why there have not been any recommendations made for the other positions, but because this is a large board, she has some hesitation about filling them when the board has not made all of the revisions about how it wants to constitute its membership. Commissioner Gordon agreed. Commissioner Foushee disagreed with this and said that, traditionally, over the last couple of years, this board has not been able to move forward because it is not getting the appointments. Commissioner Hemminger made a friendly amendment to the motion and Commissioner Jacobs and Commissioner Foushee accepted, asking that the HRC to come back with recommendations on how to reduce the size of this 24-member board. VOTE: UNANIMOUS d. Jury Commission —Appointment The Board considered making an appointment to the Jury Commission. A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Yuhasz to appoint Bob Hall to a successive term expiring June 30, 2013. VOTE: UNANIMOUS e. Mebane Planninq Board —Appointment The Board considered making an appointment to the Mebane Planning Board.
