He wants to bring this to the attention of the municipal partners. This will continue to
advance the County to the 61% waste reduction goal. He has asked if the Breeze Farm would
be able to work with the schools on a composting program and he said that staff had indicated
that it would be possible.
Solid Waste Director Gayle Wilson said that the answer was intended to be yes. The
contractor wants to do it all or nothing and not just some of it, so the Breeze Farm would have
to pick up all of it.
Commissioner Jacobs asked to communicate this to the staff of the Breeze Farm.
A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Hemminger
to approve an agreement that enables the County Solid Waste Management Department to
provide collection for separated food waste and organic material to commercial and
institutional establishments throughout Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign.
VOTE: UNANIMOUS
P_- August 22, 2011 Quarterly Public Hearing Legal Advertisement Process
The Board considered approving staff to work with the Chair/Vice-Chair/Manager over
the summer break on the August 22, 2011 joint BOCC/Planning Board Quarterly Public
Hearing legal advertisement.
Commissioner Gordon said that the usual process is to have the Board of County
Commissioners approve all legal public hearings.
