Cooperative Extension PUBLIC HEARING: (YIN) No <br />ATTACHMENT(S): <br />National 4-H Week P-reclamation <br />1NFORMATIONF CONTACT: <br />Craig_Tucker, 4-H Agent, 245-2057 <br />Carl Matyac, Cooperative Extension <br />Director, 245-2051 <br />PURPOSE: To approve a proclamation recognizing the week of October 2"d through the 8th, <br />2011 as National 4-H Week in Orange County. <br />BACKGROUND: With an expansive network reaching every corner of the country, 4-H is the <br />nation's largest youth development organization. More than 6 million 4-H youth in urban <br />neighborhoods, suburban schoolyards and rural farming communities stand out among their <br />peers -- building revolutionary opportunities and implementing community-wide change at an <br />early age. <br />On the County level, Orange County 4-H plays host to a number of programs that range from <br />after-school to a five-week long middle school summer camp that offers affordable access to <br />fantastic enrichment opportunities. National 4-H week is time to celebrate and showcase the <br />ways in which 4-H is making a difference on the county, state, and national Level. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact associated with consideration of the <br />proclamation. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The ManagEr recommends that the Board approve the attached <br />proclamation recognizing the week of October 2"d through the 8th, 2011 as National 4-H Week <br />in Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign the proclamation on behalf of the Board. <br />
