said that they could start small with limited hours and she thinks they ought to move on this now <br />while the space is available in the Century Center. She said that this was a good opportunity. <br />Mary Jo Sheridan expressed appreciation far the Orange County School Board and their <br />hard work. She hopes the County Commissioners will reconsider the numbers and the <br />recommendation and work hard to try to find a way to fully fund the school budget. She thinks it <br />is time to seriously consider a district tax. <br />William Pfeiffer spoke in support of Superintendent Bridges' budget. He said that if the <br />money is not put in now, it would be needed later. He quoted Mark Twain as follows: "Always <br />do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest." <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />With no further items to discuss, a motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by <br />Commissioner Brown to adjourn the meeting at 10:35 p.m. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />The next meeting is scheduled for June 12, 2001 at 7:30 at the Southern Human Services <br />Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. <br />Stephen H.
