39 <br />ORANGE COUNTY, AbRTH CAROLINA <br />The department reports that volunteer- response is similar in the daytime and <br />in the evening. Six to 13 personnel respond to emergency incidents. The department <br />also operates a Junior Firefighter program as a community youth activity and a <br />source of new volunteers. <br />Consistent with North Carolina regulations, all -department members are <br />required to attend 36 hours of annual training. Members of the department also hold <br />certifications as Firefighter I and Firefighter H, as well as Medical First Responder <br />- (MFR). The department's routine training sessions are scheduled on Thursday <br />evenings. New members are required to attend six training sessions and complete the <br />State's training requirement prior to becoming full members of the department. <br />The department's - operating budget has remained stable from 2006 through <br />2010. In addition to funding for operating and maintenance expenses, the <br />department also maintains a capital reserve for purchasing non - disposable <br />equipment, fleet resources, and debt service on real property.
