of the designed installation. The system is projected to save the County 30-35% in energy costs
annually with drastically lower maintenance costs and quieter, more environmentally
sustainable operations. While the geothermal system's initial cost is 10% higher than
conventional systems, it will pay for this premium within 8 years of operation in saved energy
costs. Over its 50 year expected life, the system is projected to save the County approximately
$600,000 in energy, maintenance, and equipment replacement costs.
The timeline presented to the BOCC on May 17th by which the project would be delivered is as
follows:
TASK PROPOSED
BEGINNING
DATE END BY
DATE
BOCC Action: Link Center Bid Award 9/8/11 9/8/11
Link Center Well Field Installation est. 3 month duration 10/1/11 12/31/11
Link Center E ui ment Installation est. 3 month duration 1/1/12 3/31/12
The Link Upfit project was original planned for $1,100,000 which included: BOCC meeting
space, HVAC upgrade, restroom renovations, lighting upgrades, multimedia infrastructure, and
renovations.
