WHEREAS, Dr. Summers's experience and expertise made her a frequent choice for many <br /> county and state level leadership positions over the years including President of <br /> the NC Association of Local Health Directors, Lecturer at the UNC School of <br /> Government and UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Governor's Task <br /> Force on Healthy Carolinians, and member of the NC Local Health Department <br /> Accreditation Board, Orange County Partnership for Young Children, and the <br /> Orange County Human Services Advisory Commission; and <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Rosemary Summers has been a strong advocate for the health of all Orange <br /> County residents; and has not only made an impact on Orange County, but also <br /> on the entire North Carolina public health community for over 30 years; and <br /> WHEREAS, Dr. Summers's extensive skills, experience, and dedication to public health and <br /> commitment to excellence have impacted the lives of Orange County residents, <br /> Health Department staff, Board of Health members, county officials, and <br /> colleagues, and her leadership and innovative management skills have been an <br /> outstanding example of service that benefits the community well beyond the <br /> Health Department; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we, the Orange County Board of Commissioners, do hereby proclaim <br /> Wednesday, June 1, 2011 as <br /> ROSEMARY SUMMERS DAY <br /> in Orange County and urge the public to join us in honoring Dr. Rosemary <br /> Summers and her many contributions as a public health leader and director of <br /> the Orange County Health Department. <br /> This is the 17th day of May, 2011. <br /> 5. Consent Aqenda <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Hemminger, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Foushee to approve those items on the consent agenda as stated below: <br /> a. Minutes <br /> The Board approved the minutes from March 24 and April 5, 2011 as submitted by the <br /> Clerk to the Board. <br /> b. Appointments — None <br /> c. Motor Vehicle Property Tax Release/Refunds <br /> The Board adopted a refund resolution, which is incorporated by reference, related to 23 <br /> requests for motor vehicle property tax releases or refunds in accordance with NCGS. <br /> d. Property Tax Releases and/or Refunds <br /> The Board adopted a resolution, which is incorporated by reference, to release property <br /> values related to nineteen (19) requests for property tax release and/or refund in <br /> accordance with North Carolina General Statute 105-381. <br />
