2001, as Public Safety Telecommunicator's Week in North Carolina; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, we the Orange County Board of Commissioners hereby proclaim the week of April <br />8-14, 2001, as "National Public Safety Telecommunicator's Week" in Orange County, North Carolina, in <br />honor and recognition of our County's telecommunicators and the vital contributions they make to the <br />safety and well being of our citizens. <br />Adopted this 3rd day of April 2001. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />~ Orange Community Housing Corporation (OCHC)lCommunity Land Trust in Orange <br />County Mercer <br />The Board considered a resolution of support for the proposed merger of Orange Community <br />Housing Corporation and the Community Land Trust in Orange County. <br />Housing and Community Development Director Tara Fikes made some comments about the <br />merger. <br />Commissioner Carey made reference to the letter from Robert Dowling, Executive Director of <br />OCHC, and said that it did not address the urgent repair funds and how they will be used. <br />Robert Dowling said that the urgent repair funds have not increased since December 1997. <br />Commissioner Carey feels that there needs to be a discussion on the need for urgent repair funds and <br />how funding can be obtained to support the program. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Carey to approve <br />and authorize the Chair to sign the resolution as stated below with the understanding that the staff will <br />report on how the urgent repair program will be supported. <br />RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE MERGER OF THE ORANGE COMMUNITY HOUSING <br />CORPORATION AND THE COMMUNITY LAND TRUST IN ORANGE COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, the Orange Community Housing Corporation was incorporated in 1990 as a non- <br />profit organization established address the affordable housing needs in the County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Community Land Trust in Orange County was incorporated in May 1999 as a <br />non-profit organization to provide a way to create a permanent stock of affordable housing for low and <br />moderate income families in the County; and <br />WHEREAS, the Orange Community Housing Corporation has served as the administrator of the <br />CLTOC since its inception; and <br />WHEREAS, each organization has operated with an independent Board of Directors and <br />separate Bylaws; and <br />WHEREAS, after several months of operation, it has become apparent to the two independent <br />Boards of Directors that it would be more operationally efficient to merge the two groups into one group; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the two organizations have worked together, utilizing the same staff, since the <br />inception of the Community Land Trust; and <br />WHEREAS, the proposed merger is planned to be effective July 1, 2001; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners, that the <br />proposed merger of the Orange Community Housing Corporation and the Community Land Trust in <br />
