He <br />suggested that Commissioner Gordon take this position and she declined. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />9. ITEMS FOR DECISION -REGULAR AGENDA <br />a. Appointments <br />The Board considered appointments to the Commission far Women, Equalization and Review <br />Board, Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee and Orange County Planning Board. <br />Commission for Women <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Carey to appoint <br />Josephine Holman Long and Page Johnson for terms ending June 30, 2004. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Equalization and Review Board <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Brawn to appoint <br />Tom Heffner, Kevin Foy and Jane Sparks far the term ending November 30, 2001. <br />It was stated that V. Stuart Ward asked that his name be removed from the list. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Commissioner Brown would like to be an alternate member if needed. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by Commissioner Jacobs to <br />appoint Margaret Brown, John Horner, Reg Morgan, and Lee Butzin as alternate members for the term <br />ending November 30, 2001. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to appoint <br />Betty G. Melanson and Mario C. Battigelli for the term ending June 30, 2002 and to reappoint Rebecca <br />Bradley for the term ending June 30, 2003. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />Orange County Planning Board <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Commissioner Gordon to move <br />Nicole Gooding-Ray to the At-Large position. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs to appoint Maria Tadd to the Bingham <br />Township position. <br />Commissioner Jacobs pointed out that Maria Tadd spoke during the discussion about The <br />Woodlands. He said that she spoke eloquently, creatively, and often about some of the issues about <br />development in the area and in general. <br />Commissioner Carey said that he was one of the ones concerned about filling this last seat <br />until some additional applications are received from African Americans.
