This budget amendment provides for the receipt of these funds for the above stated <br />purposes. (See Attachment 1, column 3) <br />Human Resources Department <br />5. Orange County has received a $5,000 Employee Wellness Grant from the North <br />Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC). The grant provides printing, <br />materials and incentives/activities for the 2011-12 employee wellness program (SLICE: <br />Successful Lifestyle Initiatives for County Employees). This budget amendment provides for the purchase of 12 roll-off containers to store <br />weekend waste at the five (5) Solid Waste Convenience Centers as a result of the <br />Board of County Commissioners approval in the FY 2011-12 Approved budget to extend <br />the hours of operations on weekends. All other costs for the expansion of hours will be <br />covered by currently budgeted funds within the Solid Waste operating budget. This <br />budget amendment provides for an appropriation of fund balance of $23,007 from the <br />Solid Waste Enterprise Fund to cover the cost of the containers. (See Attachment 1, <br />column 5) <br />7. At its June 7, 2011 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners accepted a matching <br />grant of $29,968 from the North Carolina Division of Environmental Assistance and <br />Outreach (NCDEAO) towards the purchase of a baler to improve recycling efficiency, <br />and the purchase of three (3) roll-off containers to haul tear-off roofing shingles to a <br />recycling market. Total costs for the baler and containers are estimated at $67,010, <br />($29,968 from the State grant funds and $37,042 from County funds currently budgeted <br />within the Solid Waste Enterprise Fund for FY 2011-12). This budget amendment <br />provides for the receipt of the State grants of $29,968 to help offset the cost of the baler <br />and roll-off containers. (See Attachment 1, column 6) <br />
