Parsons:
;~:~~ey Kemp and Associates, Inc. (RKA) has eomplcted a preliminary. review of the
ymposcd site plan for the expansionJrEnovation of the existing State bnmployees' Credit
Union (SECU} in Hillsborough. $ased ors tl~e site plan, the existing ECU includes a
i 4,811 square foot (s.f.} building with three dcive~-thi:ougta wiltdovvt; attd arse ds7ive-throv.~h
A'fM. It is our understanding the existing building will be expanded an the north side and
sc=.ztti side by s total of appmxirr~ately 2,523 a.f. to include storage space and a few aew
atlices_ Zn addition; the existing drive-through, lanes will be relocated to the south side of
j the property anal ome drive-through lane will be added, bringing the total number of drive-
through lanes to four service lames plus one A~'M ]arts. The following comments are based
on a preli~aunary review of trat£ic operations far the proposed "expansianlrenovations of the
n%Aa
`The new -site plan indicates the existing full-access. driveway on Old NC 86 will be
restrioted to right-in/right-out mavecnents only, while a new full-access. driveway will be
provided on Old 1VC 86 approximately 4G0 feet fromt the Old NC 8~/Oakdale Road
intersee7xon. Yncrexsing the spacing between afull-access driveway and the "Old NC
is6/Oakdale Road intersection is expected to provide safer and mare cf~cient access to and
from the site, pardctil.arly for lel} turning vehicles from the site driveway and left tumirag
vehicles into the site driveway from Old NC 86. These vehicles would not blacked by
northbound queues on Old NC 8b at the i>Ytersecgon with Oakdale Road.
_.eicwaing the drive-through vtiindaws to the south side of the property renataves the drive-
~rough vehicles circulating along the building, which- improves safety far pedestrian traffic
between the building and parking areas.
RAl,EIGH,NC - RICFiMONb,VA
